History of the Boyup Brook Country Music Festival

The Boyup Brook Country Music Festival and Awards were established in 1986 after discussions with other country music clubs in Western Australia.

The focus was to recognise and acknowledge Western Australian Country Music artists with awards. The Awards are now considered to be an essential ingredient in anyone's Country Music CV.

Festival Growth

Since the inception of The Festival, crowds have dramatically increased from approximately 600 in 1986 to a staggering 17,000 in 2008. With public support, the event has grown from a one day festival to a four day refreshingly authentic country music extravaganza. This brings the grass roots of country music to Boyup Brook, where followers can experience a blend of national/international artists and original artists from Western Australia in a friendly, country setting. Then, winding down on the Sunday with a traditional Bush Poets' Breakfast and great music.

Festival Organisation

The Boyup Brook Country Music Festival is solely organised by the Country Music Club, which consists of Executive Committee, General Committee and Sub Committees. Approximately 36 local organisations are involved in numerous capacities throughout the Festival. This could not be achieved without the assistance of some 350 volunteers who come from these community groups and further afield.

Festival Impact

The impact of The Festival on our community has been massive. A survey was conducted in 2007 which indicated that The Festival now brings in approximately $1.4 million to the local community and surrounding towns. It is exciting to note that we are now bringing in overseas and interstate visitors, some choosing to plan their holidays around our Festival.
