GO FOR 2&5®
2013 WESTERN AUSTRALIAN COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS
The Go For 2&5® West Australian Country Music Awards are held as a Gala event staged during the Boyup Brook Country Music Festival annually. Beginning in 1986, the Awards are a part of the Country Music Club’s long history of recognising and supporting Western Australian artists.
Entry forms for the Go For 2&5® 2014 Western Australian Country Music Awards will be posted soon, along with the announcement of more categories and exciting changes. Please remember entries close 30th September each year to undergo judging. Entries are open to professional and amateur artists who are serious about pursuing a career in country music.
The Go for 2&5® West Australian Country Music Awards are divided into three sections. Passionate songwriters, both adults and junior, aspiring to tell their story in song, are encouraged to enter the Songwriter Awards.
New and developing Western Australian country music performers may be eligible to enter the Country Music Junior Award Categories for WA Country Music Best Teenage Artist, WA Country Music Best Sub-teen Artist and WA Best New Country Talent.
The senior Western Australian Country Music Awards categories include WA Country Music Best Group/Duo, WA Country Music Best Male Artist, WA Country Music Best Female Artist, WA Country Music Independent Single of the Year, WA Country Music Album of the Year and WA Country Music Video of the Year.
With a top line-up each year vying for these Awards it confirms the continued growth in the interest and accessibility of country music on Australia.
The Go for 2&5® West Australian Country Music Awards are special because they give acknowledgement and recognition of artists in our state. With the country music industry often being largely associated with the eastern states, these hard working and talented people would often otherwise go unrecognised.
Past winners of WA Country Music Awards include Ronni Rae Rivers, The Sunny Cowgirls, Rose Carleo, Connie Kis Andersen, Jonny Taylor and Chelsea Basham to name just a few. Many Award winners have gone on to be a part of the Tamworth Country Music Camerata, Tamworth Country Music College, Star Maker and even Australian Idol and Australia's Got Talent and have gained all of this with support from the Country Music Club of Boyup Brook.

1. Most people know that fruit and vegetables are good for you. The fact is, eating more fruit and veg may be the single most important dietary change needed to improve health and reduce the risk of disease.
2. On average, West Australian adults eat around 1.5 serves of fruit and 2.5 serves of vegies per day – you need 2 serves of fruit and 5 serves of veg every day. So, you are already halfway there.
3. Eating a variety of nutritious foods like breads and cereals, fruit and vegetables, some lean meat, fish or other meat alternatives and reduced fat milk products is essential for good health and well-being.
4. Eating a diet high in fruit and vegetables protects you and your family from a number of disease (eg. heart disease, diabetes, stroke, some cancers). They are loaded with vitamins and minerals, fibre and other beneficial components. It is important children eat fruit and vegetables every day to grow and stay healthy.
5. Invest in your child’s future by encouraging them to eat a wide variety of fruit and vegetables every day, at home and school. Have your children help you to prepare these healthy, easy and tasty recipes. Involving children in preparing food is the best way to encourage enjoyment of fruit and vegetables.
