Budding musicians, here’s your chance to learn about songwriting from Adam Harvey

BOYUP BROOK, WESTERN AUSTRALIA – Want to be a songwriter or musician? And get your music heard on the radio? Here’s your chance to learn how from some of the best in the business.

Aspiring songwriters and musicians have the opportunity to receive insight from musical artists at the top of their game at free workshops being held this month as part of the Boyup Brook Country Music Festival presented by LiveLighter.

On Friday February 14, eight-time Golden Guitar winner Adam Harvey will be among visiting talents who will take the time to share their knowledge with up-and-comers.

Harvey will take attendees at his workshop through effective ways to refine the art of songwriting, and also talk about the advantages and disadvantages of co-writing.

A panel featuring three award-winning acts – Carter & Carter, Jetty Road and Anthony Taylor – will lead a discussion on having a successful music career as an independent artist.

Meanwhile, singer-songwriter Amber Lawrence will provide a glimpse into the ever-changing landscape of the music industry and the marketing side of starting and building a music career, including how to get your music on the radio and making a video.

Festival music director Sharon Winter said the skills development sessions would benefit anyone aspiring to make a living from their passion for music.

“This is a great opportunity for solo artists and bands to learn more about the music industry and potentially meet like-minded artists who they can collaborate with,” Ms Winter said.

Other interactive workshops include a chance to put on your cowboy boots and get dancing at boostscooting lessons on Thursday February 13 and Friday February 14.

There will also be a circus skills workshop held during the street carnival on Saturday February 15.
